ASKED QUESTIONS

Answers to the most common questions from prospective recruits. Read carefully before joining. If your question is not addressed here, contact the recruitment office directly.

After passing the online interview with a recruiter of the 42nd Brigade, you must arrive at the recruitment center in Lviv, Ternopil or Kyiv, where a personal file (individual folder) will be created for you. Once it is ready, you can arrive at our unit to sign a contract before being sent to basic training. Please note that the recruitment center does not operate on Saturdays and Sundays.

In Lviv, Ternopil or Kyiv, you will need to fill out an application, take photos, get a notarized translation of your documents, open a bank account and taxpayer code (for salary purposes), and pass the military medical commission. After this, you will undergo a special background check: the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), military counterintelligence, migration service, and police will verify your background. If you have no ties with Russia and no legal issues in your country, you will pass the check. Only after that will your personal file be ready. The entire process takes 10-14 working days. Sometimes there may be delays of 2-3 days. When your file is ready, you will be transported to our unit’s deployment point to sign the contract. IMPORTANT: If you are already serving in one of the units and want to transfer to ours, you do not need to go through this procedure, since you have already completed it. However, you must make sure that your command is aware of your intention to transfer, and that you are not in AWOL status.

Then you must connect your recruiter with a representative of the center where you made it, and after that, you should arrive at the deployment point of our unit (Ternopil region) to sign the contract.

First, after you pass the probation period, you will sign a contract with our military unit (A4667), after which the papers will be sent to the brigade commander for approval. Once signed, you officially become a serviceman of our unit and receive one copy of the contract. After that, we will wait for one of the groups in the 157 Training Centre (Former 4th Battalion of ILDU, Lviv region) to begin forming, and we will transfer you there once we get permission from the 157 Training Centre command. Overall, this process takes 10-25 days. During this time, you will live for free in Ternopil region.

We will help you with basic needs such as accommodation and food, but we strongly recommend having at least $1,000 with you, not including the cost of your ticket to Ukraine.

According to the law, in order to officially participate in combat operations, you must have an official record in your military ID — VOS-100. This record can only be obtained after completing official basic training. We know that some other units ignore this rule and send their people on missions without proper preparation, but this is what makes us different: we take care of our people and do everything in accordance with the law. That’s why we have the lowest casualty rate among foreign soldiers, and our men never face problems with documentation or payments.

No, you will be provided with everything necessary. You will not spend money on food, water, or housing in our unit or during basic training.

Wait for instructions from the recruiter or the responsible officer regarding further steps. Do not make independent travel arrangements.
