THE 42ND MOTORIZED INFANTRY BATTALION

The Motorized Infantry Battalion is part of the 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade. The unit was originally established as the 422nd Separate Rifle Battalion in 2023 in the Ternopil region and took part in combat operations in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The battalion is currently successfully holding the defense in the Dnipropetrovsk region, particularly along the Pokrovsk direction.

Within the battalion is an English-speaking Alpha Company, established in 2024, consisting of representatives from 8 different countries. This unit successfully conducts a wide range of missions, including reconnaissance and offensive operations, as well as clearance and defensive tasks.

The battalion is commanded by a professional leadership team that includes officers who combine high-quality NATO-standard training received abroad with valuable combat experience gained in Ukraine’s fight for independence since 2014.

Mania Group is an elite reconnaissance unit within the motorized infantry battalion, formed in 2025. The platoon is made up of the battalion’s most experienced fighters with extensive combat experience in Ukraine. Mania Group carries out assault, reconnaissance, and clearance operations. To join the platoon, you must first prove yourself in the English-speaking Alpha Company by demonstrating strong skills and leadership abilities.

UAV Team: The foreign UAV team was formed in the summer of 2025. It consists exclusively of English-speaking members and is under the command of Company Alpha. To join, you must be fluent in English and have experience operating UAVs either in civilian life or during military service. Before joining the team you will complete a two week intensive training with combat experienced instructors who will decide whether your skills are sufficient to participate in missions. The UAV team primarily conducts aerial reconnaissance missions for Company Alpha.
